Welcome to my homepage!
I am from the Balaton Limnological Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Tihany, Hungary. Tihany is a peninsula on the nothern side of Lake Balaton, the largest shallow lake in the Central European region. Tihany is also the name of the village located on the top of the hill. Both Tihany peninsula and the village has many historical interests including an early Iron Age fortress and the Tihany Abbey founded in the 11th century. And finally, possibly one of the place to see the solar eclipse in Hungary on the 11th August 1999.
Research interest:
My research field is neurobiology of Invertebrates. Two species of Gastropods: the edible snail Helix pomatia and the pond snail Lymnaea stagnalis provide us a model system to study the neuronal control of behaviour. My work includes morphological, electrophysiological and pharmacological characterization of nerve cells in the central nervous system az well as studies of their central and peripheral connections.
Current research:
Recently I am a postdoctoral fellow at the University of York, Department of Biology, UK, working with Dr. Christopher Elliott. on the neurobiology of snail feeding. Our recent project concerns the role of octopamine as a modulator substance in the feeding system of Lymnaea stagnalis.
Hobbies:
Life is certainly not just working. I enjoy walking, jogging, running (recetly started horse riding), moreover trekking, hiking, and travelling, or any kind of moving. And taking photos while walking or tavelling.
