Demonstration of the transmitter role of serotonin, dopamine, octopamine and tyramine in the central nervous system of gastropods, insects and annelids. Investigation of the role of serotonin and dopamine in the regulation of the locomotory activity and hybernation of the snail Helix pomatia. Identification as well as kinetic and pharmacological characterization of octopaminergic, tyraminergic, cholinergic, serotonergic and dopaminergic receptors in the nervous system of insects and gastropods. Characterization of cholinergic muscarin and nicotin type receptors in the gastropod nervous system demonstrating a conservative route of the filogenetic development of the colinergic receptors. Identification and characterization of the serotonin and dopamine receptors in the gastropoda central nervous system, demonstrating the significant differences from the vertebrate receptors. Biochemical characterization of the embryogenesis of the dopaminergic, serotonergic and octopaminergic system in a gastopod, Lymnaea stagnalis. Investigation of the role of DOPA decarboxylase and dopamine in insect, in the phagocytosis during the removal of an inert particles. Examination the regulatory role of serotonin and octopamine and the second messenger system in the phagocytosis.
