A korábbi évek gyakorlatának megfelelően intézetünk számos egyetemmel és
intézettel állt kapcsolatban és végzett közös kutatásokat. A PTE TTK Általános Állattani és Neurobiológiai Tanszékével (Pécs) “Gyűrűsférgek idegrendszerének kémiai neuroanatómiája és regenerációja” című kutatásokban. A DE TTK Állatanatómiai és Élettani Tanszékével (Debrecen) ”A nitrogén monoxiderg rendszer funkcionális morfológiai vizsgálata gasztropodák fejlődő és felnőtt idegrendszerében” című kutatásokban. A DE TTK Alkalmazott Ökológiai Tanszékével (Debrecen) ” Élőbevonat (epifiton, epiliton) struktúrája, biodiverzitása és haltáplálék szerepe a Balaton parti övében” című kutatásokban. PéterBíró Péter a DE TTK Alkalmazott Ökológiai Tanszékén (Debrecen) ”A halak populációbiológiája” és „Vízi ökológia” című tantárgyat oktatta. Elekes Károly a PTE TTK Általános Állattani és Neurobiológiai Tanszékén (Pécs) ”Gerinctelen állatok idegrendszerének összehasonlító neurobiológiája” címmel speciálkollégiumot tartott. Elekes Károly a 1999/2000 és 2001/2002 tanévben előadásokat tartott az ELTE Általános Állatszervezettani Tanszékén az “Összehasonlító neuroanatómia” című speciálkollégium és PhD képzés keretében. G.-Tóth László Veszprémi Egyetemen „Mélytengeri biológia” c. tantárgy oktatását végezte. Ponyi Jenő a PATE Georgikon Kar (Keszthely) Természetvédelmi Posztgraduális (Szakmérnöki) Szakon a hidrobiológia, a PATE Állattani Tanszékén pedig az alkalmazott hidrobiológia oktatását végezte. Salánki János vezetésével, Győri János, Kiss Tibor, Molnár Gábor, S.-Rózsa Katalin és Szűcs Attila részvételével a Veszprémi Egyetem Biológiai Intézetében ill. Informatika Szakán ”A neurobiológia alapjai” című alaptantárgy és ”Elemi ingerületi folyamatok” választható tárgy oktatását végezték. Tátrai István 2000/2001-ben a DE TTK „Vízi ökológia” PhD program oktatója volt. Tátrai István az ELTE egyetemi hallgatóinak gyakorlati foglalkozását vezette. Vörös Lajos a VE TTK Botanika Tanszékén (Veszprém) a ”Növényszervezettan” és ”Növényökológia” tantárgyakat oktatta. Vörös Lajos a PTE TTK Botanikai Tanszékén (Pécs) az „Algológia” tantárgyat oktatta.
